Bench AFTER Precept funded renovation Sept. 2024

8th of September, 2024

Wow! What a difference a little  TLC makes ! This beautiful old bench was donated to the village  by Friends of the  River Yarrow . There are memorial plaques on the bench with the names of the people involved: Dick Turpin Jackson and Sweet William Parkinson who live in the village  and the late Victor Meldrew Almond.

Volunteers Neville and Andrew of Croston Together , extremely kindly rallied to the aid of this bench and spent considerable time and effort cleaning it , sanding it down, repairing areas on it , painting it and then painting it again. We are most grateful to them for all their hard work in restoring this wonderful bench which now looks quite splendid. It is a joy to sit there and watch the world go by with a cuppa and sandwich from Thyme on The Yarrow.

We thank Suzy of Thyme on the Yarrow who kindly supplied the volunteers with plenty of warm water to wash the bench down before work commenced and Cllr Kath A who helped clear all the moss and debris from under the bench . What a great team effort . Thank you everyone ...great job !
