1st of January, 2025
1/1/25 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION , PLEASE SEE THE DEDICATED SECTION ON THIS WEBSITE " FLOODING " .LCC has a Flood Investigation Sheet that can be submitted to LCC when people's property has flooded. If LCC do not know that your property was flooded , they will not factor your statistic into future planning.
A most distressing situation for all concerned. There has, as always , been significant community spirit supporting those affected - THANK YOU .
The Fire and Rescue Service was present for a considerable length of time, pumping surface water into the River Yarrow. Information passed onto the Parish Council from the Fire and Rescue Service is that they remained in Croston until there was no longer any threat to property .
Members of the Parish Council and Croston Together were out in the village 1/1/25 trying to help those affected. Panshi provided food for the Fire and Rescue crews and Out Lane Social provided them with hot drinks. There were many other volunteers and folks who have rallied round to assist - THANK YOU
There have been a lot of questions about the Flood Defence Barriers situated on the River Yarrow in Eccleston . FYI , there is a meeting ( date to be confirmed) with LCC and the Environment Agency at Chorley Town Hall , which Cllrs on Croston PC who have also been significant members of The Flood Action Group will attend. Many thanks to Cllr Almond and Cllr Sloan for all their input on this over the years. One of the points that will be raised at this future meeting is about any adjustments needed to the telemetry on the bridges that triggers the barrier closure.
FOR FURTHER INFORMATION , PLEASE SEE THE DEDICATED SECTION ON THIS WEBSITE " FLOODING ". We urge all flooded properties to be listed with LCC . See the "Flooding " section on this website.
